Tennant Equipment for National Grocery Chain's New Distribution Center
Cleancorp, a well-established national commercial cleaning company with over 30 years of experience, has built a reputation for delivering quality cleaning services across retail, offices, education, and manufacturing facilities throughout Australia. Recently, Cleancorp was appointed to maintain a newly opened 26,000-square-meter distribution center in Sydney. The state-of-the-art facility presented significant cleaning challenges due to its size and the diversity of its environments, both indoors and outdoors.
To meet these challenges, Cleancorp sought the expertise of Master Australia to recommend cleaning equipment that would handle large-scale operations effectively. After an in-depth analysis, Tennant’s T16 Ride-On Scrubber, T391 Walk-Behind Scrubber, and S780 Ride-On Sweeper were selected due to their durability, high performance, and versatility in handling diverse cleaning needs.
Challenge
The distribution center presented a complex mix of cleaning challenges that required a tailored approach to ensure efficiency and high standards. With a large footprint and diverse environments, Cleancorp needed to address several operational hurdles to maintain the facility effectively, which included;
- Large Area, Limited Time: Highly efficient equipment was required to thoroughly clean the vast, 26,000 square meter facility in tight windows of time between operational shifts.
- Diverse Environments: The facility included both ambient and cold storage areas, each with different cleaning requirements. Equipment had to perform effectively in both temperature conditions without compromising results.
- Tight and Confined Spaces: The facility layout featured narrow aisles and confined areas, particularly in production zones. This required cleaning machines, such as walk-behind scrubbers, capable of navigating these spaces while ensuring thorough debris removal.
- Maximising Efficiency, Minimising Labour: Cleancorp needed to reduce manual labour while maximising coverage and cleaning efficiency across the entire facility.
"For us, having the best machines available on the market is a no-brainer. Our customers expect proven, reliable service support and, of course, high-standard results. If you go to a premium cleaning contractor, you expect them to use premium equipment."

"For us, having the best machines available on the market is a no-brainer," expressed Sally Hunt, Cleancorp’s General Manager. "Our customers expect proven, reliable service support and, of course, high-standard results. If you go to a premium cleaning contractor, you expect them to use premium equipment."
Results
The facility's dual-environment setup—spanning dry storage and cold room warehouses— required equipment capable of efficiently handling both conditions, while upholding strict cleaning standards. The Cylindrical T16 Ride-On Scrubber was an optimal choice that offered dual functionality by simultaneously providing light sweeping capabilities to collect debris during scrubbing.
In the production zones, where tight spaces demanded more precision, the T391 mid-sized walk-behind scrubber proved ideal with its exceptional manoeuvrability, allowing Cleancorp to tackle both large open areas and confined spaces with ease. For the external premises covering 11,000 square meters, the S780 Ride-On Sweeper was selected to efficiently manage sweeping tasks and ensure the entire site was maintained to a high standard.
The ability to switch between machines allowed Cleancorp to maximise productivity during limited hours of operation, ensuring that both warehouses were cleaned on time and without disruption to the facility’s workflow.
"We’ve been in the industry for over 30 years, and our experience with Tennant machines has always been great," said Hunt. “They are durable and reliable, providing us with ready-to-use support and equipment. Also, I have to say, the Tennant squeegees have always lasted longer than competitors and contributed to a superior clean."
